We want to know as much as possible about the people we employ, but remember this is only to assist us in ascertaining whether or not they are the ‘right’ candidate for the job, and the right ‘team fit’. Just remember that Common Sense Prevails! DO NOT ask direct questions regarding their marital status
- Ask the candidate to tell you a little bit about themselves and why they a) would like to leave their current role and b) come and work for you.
- Most candidates will open up and tell you a lot about their circumstances
- Try to avoid ‘closed’ questions (ie those demanding a ‘Yes’ or a ‘No’ answer) and instead encourage the interviewee to be more verbose and expand on their answers.
